Have other tips for us after reading this? Let us know on Facebook or Instagram! Now, let’s get to those reusable pee pads and DIY dog toys! We’re not being paid to promote these.. we simply love what these companies are doing.

Reusable Pee Pads

Sounds gross, but hang in there. If you recently adopted a new rescue pup and are in the process of house training your dog, consider using reusable pee pads! Reusable pads can be tossed in your washer and dryer for a quick clean-up whether your dog uses it while you’re at work or if your puppy or senior pup has an accident. This way, you can make a one-time purchase instead of constant purchases of disposable pads. Meaning, not only do you save some money, but you’ll also reduce one-time use plastics. We love this 2 Pack Pawtect Pee Pads!

Biodegradable Poop Bags

Instead of using plastic bags to pick up your pup’s doo-doo at the dog park, try out poop bags that will degrade on their own! Plastic bags can take thousands of years to decompose, which can negatively effect on our environment, wild life, and landfills. When looking for green baggies, check out green alternatives like vegetable-based materials, such as ones derived from corn-starch and other bio-based components. Want to order some right now? Check out Doggy Do Good’s 100% biodegradable and certified compostable bags, which means they are safe for the environment and break down in just 90 days!

Eco-friendly Grooming Products

As many of us humans strive to only use all-natural shampoos and conditioners for ourselves, why not use an all-natural solution for your pup? Our CBD infused shampoo and conditioners provide a biodegradable option, free from detergent, dyes ,and parabens. Plus they are cruelty-free and contain natural ingredients such as aloe and oatmeal for additional anti-inflammatory properties! All of our grooming products are made with limited ingredients come in shampoos, conditioners, a convenient 2-in-1 plus a topical CBD balm to minimize itching and discomfort!

Does your pup get stressed when bath time rolls around? Try administering Pet Releaf’s CBD Hemp Oils about an hour before to make for a less stressful and more pleasant bath experience for your pup (& yourself!)

Fish-Free Omega 3

One of our most recent products to launch, our Fish-Free Omega 3, is a great example of our ongoing commitment to sustainability. Most pet owners are probably familiar with omega oils for their pets, although typically these are made from fish oil. Where does fish oil come from? Fish, but usually, its sourced from fish farms or commercial fishing - neither of which are great for the environment. Thats why we decided to source our omega from microalgae! Our microalgae is sourced from sustainable farms in the Himalayas, a more eco-friendly option for your pet!

DIY Dog Toys

Yup, we’re finally going to put those old Tees to use. If you’re the crafty type and love DIY projects, throw together some materials you can find around the house to make the ultimate pet toy! We recommend searching on Pinterest for endless inspiration or check out these Easy Recycled Braided Dog Toys from Instructables Living made out of old t-shirts! When you take the DIY route, it can save you a ton of money from going to the store nonstop to replace the toys your dog often rips to shreds. Not only can DIY projects be an awesome creative outlet for you, but also, common plastic pet toys are not always great for the environment. Additionally, recent studies have begun to question if plastic and vinyl toys are impacting your dog’s health.

Donate to Your Local Shelter

When you’re thinking about tossing your pup’s old dog bed or toys in the trash, consider donating them over to your local shelter for rescue pups to enjoy! If they’re lightly used and in good condition, it’s a fantastic way to get involved with your local rescue community and for a chance to put a smile on a pup’s face!

At Pet Releaf, we always recommend searching for more eco-friendly products for you and your pets. One small change can be the step to changing your lifestyle and the planet!
