How Two Rescued Dogs Found Their Forever Home After a Rough Start

Age(s): Boomer is 8 years old & Ella is 1 year old

Breed(s): Boomer is a Cocker Spaniel & Ella is a Pit, Beagle, Fox Hound mix

What is your rescue pet's background or story? Do you know anything about their life before they came into your care? 

Boomer: We rescued Boomer from Rock Star Cocker Rescue when he was 4 years old. He had 6 owners prior to us. The first owner was in the medical field and having a pet didn’t feel reasonable. Luckily, he had family members who were willing to take over Boomer’s care. After being passed around within their circle, I came to know one of the previous owners, and finally, we were able to transfer him to a permanent home with us!

 
Ella:  We don’t know much about her history; we got her from a rural shelter called Friends of Southside. They had found her abandoned, and after seeing one picture of her, we had to go meet her! She’s been ours ever since.

Did you face any challenges during the adoption process or after bringing your pet home? Has your rescue pet's past experiences influenced their behavior or interactions with you? 

Boomer transitioned easily into our home. After having been in so many different environments, and because he was a bit more mature, he settled in quickly! It felt like he had been ours all along.

Ella, on the other hand, turned the house upside down. She is now starting to get settled in, but she was getting into everything and tore up the house. We ended up getting a trainer to help us, to help her calm down and learn how to be a household pet.

Does your pet have any ongoing health issues now? 

With Boomer, we learned quickly that he was allergy-prone and was on Cytopoint shots. We wanted to wean him off of these if possible, which is what led us to find Pet Releaf. We administer the Daily Releaf Edibites, and he hasn’t had to have a Cytopoint shot in over a year! They have helped tremendously. Besides that, we have to keep an eye out for Ella and her high energy! Boomer had to be put in a crate after Ella accidentally hurt him from playing so hard.

We always have to watch Ella to make sure she doesn’t bounce on Boomer. She can get so excited, and as he gets older, she has to watch how hard she plays with him. Beyond using Edibites to keep Ella calm, she’s as healthy as can be!

Skin & Paw Releaf: We love this product! With Boomer’s nose, it gets dry and crusty, so we put it on his nose to help with that and his paws for cracked paws. I used it on Ella’s cut to help heal it, and it helped tremendously! I think every pet parent should have this product. It works for so many different things and REALLY works!
